What can I expect to do in this role?

Within a large information systems cluster, you will:
  • Manage large and complex projects for I&IT systems upgrades, program changes and application updates to support the delivery of social services / child services across Ontario.
  • Manage the provision of technical expertise and consultative advice, and arrange/negotiate service agreements on behalf of clients.
  • Manage the human resources needs and finances of the application development team.
  • Manage the implementation of information technology applications, mitigating risks, ensuring quality and continuous improvement.
  • Manage and develop business relationships with stakeholders.
How do I qualify?
Technical Knowledge
  • You have knowledge of systems analysis and design methodologies, systems development life cycle, programming concepts, technical understanding of operations and capabilities.
  • You can develop and implement technical, operational, and business methods and procedures, performance, technical, operational and quality standards and contingency plans for I&IT services.
  • You have knowledge of Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) platform technology, including IBM Cúram.
Business Analysis Experience
  • You can analyze and understand clients' policy, program and computer environments, business goals, plans, issues, and resources to provide I&IT advice.
  • You have experience with business analysis, fit gap analysis of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) software such as Cúram and web/portal services.
  • You are able to apply Ontario Public Service (OPS) IT standards to develop and implement processes and procedures, ensure compliance with relevant legislation to achieve security and business requirements.
Procurement & Project Management Experience
  • You have knowledge of contract management and procurement policies, account management, data administration and related corporate policies, directives, guidelines and procedures to manage the acquisition, negotiation and management of external consultants.
  • You have experience developing business cases, RFPs and RFRs, and vendor response evaluation, selection, project approvals and contract awards.
  • You have experience delivering large scale application development projects and developing and delivering application maintenance plans.
Procurement & Project Management Experience
  • You can apply human resources management policies, guidelines and procedures and have excellent HR management skills to provide supervision, direction and motivation to staff.
  • You have experience controlling unit budgets.
Relationship Management Skills
  • You can develop, influence, and manage business relationships with sponsors, stakeholders, colleagues and clients using negotiation, problem solving, and planning skills.
