Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Brand, the Marketing & Communications Manager coordinates, plans, executes and collaborates on all property level communications and marketing activities. The manager is also responsible for promoting and protecting the company's reputation by developing and executing media relations and public relations strategies and plans for brand building, and internal/corporate communications.

DUTIES:
Work with the Director of Marketing to develop, implement and measure the annual internal and external marketing communications plans with the objectives being to increase awareness, build brand love and drive adoption of the Sandman Hotel Group.
Manage and develop a team of marketing coordinators, creating communication and marketing strategies for brand campaigns/advertising, hotel events and promotions.
Collaborate to produce dynamic social media campaigns on the hotel's social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter) and proactively responds to all online guest queries and complaints, media and influencer requests, as required
Collaborate to ensure the hotel's online digital presence is maintained and update social media channels per the established social media calendar
Build relationships with key media contacts and identify opportunities to proactively pitch brand and corporate stories to media as appropriate.
Develop written materials including press releases, Q&A, media standby statements on brand and corporate issues as required.
Provide guidance and direction to PR agency partners and review all Brand PR materials to ensure communication is accurate, relevant and consistent with the Sandman Hotel Group brand and overall corporate messaging and positions.
Evaluate the effectiveness of Brand PR programs and merchandise program results back to business.
Work with PR agency partner on crisis/ issues management
Work with the Director of Digital Marketing & Analytics and liaise with advertising and digital agencies to develop campaigns, as required
Plan and execute all photography and videography for earned, owned and paid channels, ensuring digital content and locally produced collateral is aligned to brand standards.
Ensure that hotel presence on all approved online distribution sites are up-to-date and aligned with brand standards. Includes supporting the sales team with OTA, meta, and consortia profiles
Participate in forecasting, budgeting and reporting for marketing and communications
Lead responsibility for all internal communications initiatives

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English or related discipline.
Minimum of 5-8 years' experience in Communications and/or PR agency experience required.
Must be able to meet tight deadlines and execute flawlessly on projects in a fast-paced, often pressured environment and see a project through to completion.
Previous experience in managing marketing and social media campaigns is required
Previous experience in a similar capacity within another hotel brand is an asset
Management experience required a motivational management style with a genuine interest in service excellence
Must possess excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication with strong writing and editorial abilities
Must possess strong project management skills
Bilingual in French an asset
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, internet, wire services, media monitoring software, and other public relation tools
Must have the ability to be an influential communications consultant within the organization.
Must have the ability to work effectively in a team.
The ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders and work effectively with all levels of employees is critical.
