The BCIT School of Energy is seeking a regular, full-time BCGEU Faculty to prepare and deliver courses in the Computer Information Systems Administration program. The topics of instruction will provide students with the skills needed to succeed as network systems administrators or enterprise systems administrators. The subject matter delivered includes both theory and practical skills. Candidates must have strong communication skills, and will be required to assume responsibilities for curriculum development and academic leadership. All candidates should have a minimum skill set that includes Database Administration, Network Management Protocols, and Deploying Cloud Services.

Skills and industry expertise in one or more of the following areas will be an asset:

  • Microsoft Networking (MCSE) Server 2016/2019
  • Cisco Networking (CCNA, CCNP and ASA)
  • Linux Operations and Administration
  • Network Security and Cybersecurity
  • Network Services (Wireless, VoIP, Collaboration)
  • Unified Communications
  • Enterprise Windows Applications
  • Microsoft Exchange Server 2019
  • Python Programming
  • IT Business Communication
  • Project Management
  • SQL database
  • Juniper
  • OpenStack

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma or degree in computer information technology or a related discipline.
  • A Business or Project Management credential would be an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years of recent work experience within information technology.
  • Systems administration experience.
  • Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP and Microsoft MCSE are an asset.
  • Current computer literacy required (MS Office).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Supervisory and leadership experience in industry preferred.
  • Teaching experience in a post-secondary environment is an asset.
  • Experience with a Learner Management Systems is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Possesses a teaching credential or willing to enroll in the provincial instructor diploma program.
