Red Spot Paint & Varnish Co., Inc. currently has an opening for a Technical Service Representative to join our Technical Service Team in Canada. In this role, you must be able to provide customer satisfaction by providing solutions in a timely and effective manner while continuing to strengthen the customer relationship and product feasibility. This may include new appearances, color adaption, process issues, complaints, formulation improvements, and chemistry. A Technical Service Representative will work directly with Red Spot Customers, Chemist, Sales/Tech Service, and in collaboration with other Red Spot Departments in North America in order to meet their needs.

We are looking for a self-starter with strong work ethic who is a strong, patient communicator and problem solver that can deal with internal and external customers in a productive and diplomatic fashion. Ability to work through open items utilizing problem solving techniques to eliminate any issues. This role supports: color matching to ensure samples meet all visual and numerical qualifications that have been assigned to the product in use, OEM design and new color development that meet the evolving appearance trends in the marketplace, customer start-ups of new programs and product launches by understanding the customer expectations as related application and process impact on color appearance, first time formulas in ensuring a successful handoff from lab to production environment., etc.. This position will service the greater Toronto area.


  • GED or High School Diploma is required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Science or Technical area preferred.
  • 3+ years’ experience or any combination of education and experience in color matching, color development, paint manufacturing, coatings, technical experience
  • Ability to work across departments and with customers to complete projects in a timely manner
  • Ability to multitask with a high sense of urgency and strong follow up skills
  • Detail oriented with organization and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills to relate with customers and individuals at all levels within the organization
  • Strong creative problem solving skills on projects and issues, and effectively communicate status with supervisor and team members
  • Team player, self-motivated, strong work ethic
  • Strong computer skills; Work, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Ability to successfully pass a Ishihara Test for Colour-Deficiency
  • Ability to travel, to customer sites and to facilities within the organization
  • Successful completion of a post offer employment: drug and alcohol test, background check, reference check, and post offer physical.
