The Opportunity
As a Software Engineer, you'll help us build out our core product by developing high-impact, user-facing features. In our growing engineering organization, you'll be developing and shipping new features and updates across the Humi platform. You'll work collaboratively with product managers and designers to drive the implementation and release of major features, and be a champion of best practices for writing well-tested, well-organized code.

The Team
You'll join a team where everyone - including you - is striving to constantly improve their knowledge of system architecture, infrastructure, design patterns, and testing. We are an incredibly supportive team giving peer feedback and constructive pull request reviews. We are passionate about clean, well organized code, and how systems and users interact with our implementations.

The Tech Stack
Humi leverages some of the most popular frameworks to ensure fast, consistent, secure, and scalable solutions. Our front-end application uses Google's Angular framework for a prescriptive approach to web application development. Our core API is a PHP Laravel application offering us strong community support, learning materials, and in depth documentation. Our payroll and payments service is a Ruby on Rails application allowing us to abstract and simplify common tasks and maintain a flexible environment for future growth.

The Skill Set
4-6 years of software development experience (Rails/Laravel/MVC, Angular/Typescript)

Ability to collaborate within a small team on objective driven projects

Passion and enthusiasm for well-tested, well-organized code

The ability to coach/mentor your fellow individual contributors on best-practices

Ability to build relationships and collaborate closely with teammates across Humi

Experience working in a fast paced, high growth environment

The First Month
Your journey begins by joining one of our product squads, a collaborative, goal-oriented, cross-functional team of developers, product managers, and designers.

You will attend planning sessions, project update stand-ups, and working sessions with team members to gain context and understanding of the project objectives and outcomes.

You will assist the team from ideation through acceptance testing to deployment and value monitoring.

You will participate in technical discussions around implementation and bring past experiences to the table to form the best solutions for our customers.

You will attend monthly 1 on 1s with your manager to discuss career growth and personal goals.

3 Months
You will be contributing high impact solutions on a daily basis as a member of your squad, delivering value quickly and at scale.

You will help your team hit business objectives by ideating, experimenting, innovating, and implementing software and workflow solutions.

You will pay down technical debt as part of the wider organization, while promoting a stable and reliable software platform for our customers.

Dive into complex parts of our platform by pair-programming with teammates from the wider engineering organization.

You will work cross-squad, interacting with subject area experts to gain knowledge and understanding around standards and design patterns.

6 Months
You will continue to participate as a high impact contributor, while using your technical expertise to coach and mentor cross-squad.

You'll partner cross-functionally with product and design to focus on measuring and understanding user interaction with the features your team has built.

You'll have made a visible impact to the product and provided our customers with best in class solutions.

You'll have ownership and accountability around major areas of the application

You'll work with your squad to find optimizations and improvements to existing features

12 Months
While individually contributing, you will mentor and coach new team members cross-squad within your domain of expertise.

Estimate technical scope and time to complete major features and initiatives.

Collaborate with engineering and product leadership to define, prioritize and guide business objectives.

Participate in interviewing and hiring as a way to influence team growth and culture.
