As a Business Development Manager, your goal will be to develop new/existing business, expand market area and increase productivity by creating new ideas and strategies to generate revenue. You will also be responsible for leading, developing, instructing, monitoring and motivating sales staff.
Generate new business and maintain existing client base by providing a first place of contact for client inquiries and complaints. Ensure customer satisfaction for ongoing account maintenance and preservation.
Develop a comprehensive business plan and strategy for the Canadian sales team pertaining to Western Canada.
Organize and lead weekly, monthly and yearly Sales Meetings.
Present competitive rates to prospective clients and help prepare sales staff for presentations.
Grow all aspects of the Western Canada region including shipment count, tonnage and gross profit for all modes of transportation.
Monitor SENS activity and measure pipeline goals and objectives.
Provide leadership to other departments in sales and service areas.
Communicate and advise international offices of our market capabilities.
Review and research market changes; develop and suggest new marketing strategies to increase awareness and promote corporate image.
Mentor all sales staff, assist (when needed) in their work assignments and performance development.
Ensure customer retention by monitoring communications between staff and clients.
Lead proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures.
Report all unsafe activates to supervisor and/or human resources.
Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge and skills.
Perform all other job- related duties as required by the VP Sales.
Skills / Requirements
- Valid Driver’s Licence and own transportation is a must
- Willingness to travel biweekly to/from Edmonton and Calgary required.
Formal Academic training in International Business or related field and 5 + years’ experience within international/3PL sales; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Working knowledge of international shipping terms, Bill of Lading procedures, air cargo documentation, liabilities and insurance.
Ability to read, analyze, and respond to common inquiries or complains from customer, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Ability to write speeches and presentations.
Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or board of directors.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, Power Point, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
MUST have car less than 5 years.
