Position Summary:
This permanent full-time supervisory position will be working Tuesday to Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. and will be responsible for overseeing the release and production of customs brokerage entries by supervising a team of Customs Brokerage Release Agents and Customs Brokerage Raters.

The Job Involves:
  • Perform quality control functions to ensure staff complete brokerage transactions accurately
  • Plan objectives and create strategies to improve process flow and to ensure team members perform optimally and meet company objectives
  • Assist Manager by performing supervisory duties
  • Assist in the development and personal growth of staff and provide support, mentoring and training as needed
  • Use problem-solving skills to identify opportunities to improve service delivery and operational productivity
  • Classify commodities for customs transactions
  • Perform database maintenance and handle regulatory / compliance duties including, but not limited to, database audits
  • Monitor clients’ shipping processes to ensure compliance and expedited releases of freight while identifying opportunities for process improvements
  • Contact clients and vendors for additional information
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with clients and recommend program or process improvements to consistently meet our clients’ needs
  • Answer questions from clients regarding shipment releases and trade compliance issues
  • Perform some client service tasks, including visiting clients on occasion
  • Perform a variety of other tasks as assigned by management
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • Up-to-date Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) designation
  • Five or more years general customs brokerage experience
  • Must be fully versed in the Canadian Tariff and able to classify goods imported into Canada
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Secondary school education or equivalent experience
  • Strong knowledge of customs tariff, Explanatory Notes, General Rules of Interpretation (GRI), customs regulations, release initiatives, ACROSS system and ocean release process
  • Knowledge in the release of freight and trade compliance issues preferred
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent judgment skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking and time-management skills to meet deadlines
