The Investment Counsellor is part of a team of professionals providing an integrated solution of institutional quality investment management, banking, and wealth and estate services to High Net Worth (“HNW”) individuals and their families.
The Investment Counsellor is responsible for developing and nurturing strong relationships directly with end clients who don’t have an advisor as well as with advisors within Manulife’s existing distribution channels and, ultimately the advisor’s clients, with a focus on providing personalized investment counselling solutions and services.

We are presently looking for Investment Counsellors across Canada!
Develop comprehensive and customized investment portfolios using Manulife Private Wealth’s open architecture, multi-asset strategy platform.
Monitor and manage portfolios in compliance with an Investment Policy Statement prepared for each client in accordance with firm practice.
Responsible for helping acquire new clients, together with MPW sales directors and independent advisors, and taking ownership of the investor compliance component of the client on-boarding process.
Manage client portfolios and service existing clients so as to grow Assets under Management.
Take a proactive, disciplined approach to rebalancing client portfolios
Be familiar and comfortable with an investment consulting approach to private client wealth management
Monitor and report on client performance.
Meet with clients, together with the team, on a regular basis to discuss/update on the progress of their plan and amend as necessary
Work collaboratively with the MPW team in client acquisition activities.
Effectively communicate MPW’s investment philosophy and our risk management approach to current and prospective clients
Ensure the investment management process adheres to all internal and external compliance policies and procedures
Ensure client portfolios comply with all appropriate compliance policies and procedures.
The ideal candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. He/she is professional, calm under pressure, honest and reliable. It is critical that they are able to think on their feet and use common sense as an underlying guide when working through problems.
A minimum of 5 years of experience specifically delivering discretionary investment management services to high-net worth Clients
Undergraduate degree in commerce, finance or equivalent (MBA or related degree considered an asset)
CFA or Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designation
Licensable as Advising Representative with Ontario Securities Commission (OSC)
Currently registered at a minimum as an Associate Advising Representative
Keen student of the market with an excellent understanding of the securities markets
Firm grasp of operational framework and regulatory environment that MPW operates in
Well organized, goal driven and action-oriented.
Highly capable of adapting approach to what is best for each particular situation. Able to decide quickly when needed, and skillful in identifying situations in which additional analysis or input is needed.
Highly professional reputation / judgment with strong ethics and values.
Fully bilingual: English / Mandarin
Must be computer literate with an above average understanding of Microsoft Office and portfolio management software and tools.
Demonstrable track record of community involvement and active networking
Natural propensity towards team-work and collaboration and proven coachability
