Crosslinx Transit Solutions (CTS) is a consortium comprised of EllisDon, SNC-Lavalin, Aecon and ACS - Dragados. CTS has been selected by Metrolinx and Infrastructure Ontario to deliver the Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit Project and is seeking highly qualified, experienced personnel to join the team of this complex P3 design and construction project.
The Junior Cost Controller will provide assistance to the Cost Control Manager and additionally provides interface support between cost control and other project functions including planning, procurement, finance, and construction.
Delivery of primary support to Cost Control Lead; report generation, database information entry, cost monitoring and analysis and earned value measurement activities. Other responsibilities include:
Assist in the implementation of EVM and cost allocation methodologies and reporting
Maintain general daily cost control information; ensuring cost reports and related documents are complete, current and appropriately stored
Become familiar with scope, budgets, packages to assist Project Manager and Cost Control Lead in monthly reporting, etc.
Expedite cost information submitted by various team members
Co-ordinate with Project Controls Coordinators Planners, Cost Control Leads and Project Managers on an on-going basis to streamline sourcing of project cost data
Participate in the cost trending program and provide support for the project quantity tracking program
Apply principles of project controls to cost control and ensure compliance with established internal controls, with a keen eye toward cost control accuracy.
Assist in the development of cost reports and spreadsheet models to support on-going cost and management reporting requirements
Provide support for analysis of labour productivity, cumulative progress tracking, earned value monitoring and validating and establishing project forecasts.
May perform tracking of project costs against baseline to capture appropriate project performance measurements giving input to Cost Lead to support evaluation of cost impacts
Verify monthly actual costs, quantities and progress; assist to develop monthly accruals and variance explanation.
Support month-end cost activities to ensure accurate cost results
Responsible for consolidation of cost control deliverables; reviewing cost reports for completeness and accuracy and ensuring cost reports adhere to internal requirements
Perform related duties and responsibilities as requested by Cost Control Lead and serve as a cost control resource to the Project Controls team.
1 year of related experience
College and/or University degree in related field, OR applicable work experience
Interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills to gather data and verify information
Accurate data entry (paying close attention to detail) and excellent technical writing and reporting skills
Strong MS Excel skills, including vlookup and experience with pivot tables
Familiarity with finance systems is preferred
Familiarity with earned value management and project metrics is an asset
Knowledge of construction execution and/or project management processes is an asset
Demonstrated ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Proactive, resourceful and hands-on with good initiative.
Must be organized, efficient, and accurate; able to verify own work and meet regular deadlines
