Our client, Vimar Equipment (www.vimarequipment.com) has been selling, renting, and servicing new and used equipment for over 40 years. Vimar is dedicated to being the best in the business for over 40 years and has a great opportunity for an experienced Accounting Assistant to join their dynamic Burnaby team.

Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Assistant is responsible for providing support in the day to day transactional activities relating to the Company. This role touches on all aspects of accounting from Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Cash Management, Statutory Remittances, Monthly Account Reconciliations and other special projects as needed.

ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reconciliation of bank accounts
Audit invoices against purchase orders, verify accuracy, obtain approval sign off from General Manager
Maintain file for approved invoices in preparation for batch check runs
Prepare batch check runs, copy checks, print required reports for check run review process and obtain all signatures for checks
Reconcile and audit vendor statements, research and resolve discrepancies
Review invoices for missing documentation, and follow up with vendor for any missing documents
Record supplier invoices in accounting system, attach required documents and distribute to President for approval
Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices
Accounts Receivable/Billing; prepare and distribute project, maintenance, and service billings. Understand the process of preparing billings and other required documents on monthly basis
Accounts Receivable: Send invoices, statements, overdue notices and reminders to outstanding customers; post and reconcile customer payments; prepare and process deposits and payments; set up new customer accounts.
Month-end/year-end preparation
Process, reconcile, audit all cash and credit card receipts

ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
3-5 years full cycle accounting experience in a medium sized company is desired.

Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Proficiency with MS Office (Excel in particular with VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, SUMPRODUCT, Pivot Tables).
Familiarity with accounting software (Simply Accounting and/or QuickBooks).
Proficiency in using CDK (dealership software) or PFW (Sage) is an asset.
Working in a busy team environment, you must be a self-starter with the ability to multi-task and meet established deadlines. You will possess a high level of moral judgment and integrity for handling confidential information and monetary transactions.
Strong organizational, communication & interpersonal skills.
Ability to establish priorities, multi-task, and provide accurate and timely information.
Self-motivated with the ability to consistently show initiative that adds value to the organization.
Reliable, adaptable, detail oriented, and focused.
Ability to deal effectively and diplomatically with people at all levels in the organization.
