Assistant Pastry Chef: Reports to Pastry Chefs and Senior Pastry Chef.

We are currently hiring Assistant Pastry Chefs. The ideal candidate is a team player who works well under pressure in a dynamic and fast paced environment. You will have the opportunity to learn from an experienced kitchen team and a master Pastry Chef. Create exceptional food with the best ingredients.

Position Requirements:

  • Knowledge of pastry making dessert finishing
  • Knowledge of dessert production
  • Math skills for count offs and measurements
  • 1-2 years experience in a similar position

Applicants must have Canadian citizenship, permanent resident status, CIS, or a valid fulltime long term work permit and residence. Please do not waste our time if you don't have this.

  • Ability to handle a fast-paced, busy and somewhat stressful environment while working.
  • Willing to perform tasks such as cleaning and garbage handling.

Education and Experience:

  • Culinary education required.
  • Enrolmentor completion of the RED SEAL certification program through ITA an asset.
  • Level 1 FoodSafe, Safe Food Handling or BASICS.fst Food Handler Certificate.
  • and Level 2 FoodSafe.

Physical Requirements:

Able to lift and carry up to 50lbs safely and must be able to stand for very long periods of time. Able to work in warm conditions around equipment that generate heat.

Other:

Available to work very early mornings, weekends, holidays and long days as necessary. The Morning pastry team starts the work day at 4:30AM on weekdays and 3:30AM on weekends.

Blacksmith Bakery is an artisan bakeshop located in historic Fort Langley, built on the original site of reid’s blacksmith shop circa 1910. We create real food using traditional artisanal methods, baked fresh daily, on-site, in our open kitchen using locally sourced and seasonal ingredients. The hand forged viennoiserie, patisserie, cakes, eclairs, tarts, cookies, savouries, soups and gourmet sandwiches crafted by our passionate team are worth the trip. We love our coffee! Our baristas craft the finest range of espresso based coffee drinks using organic beans roasted by local artisanal roasters.
