In this position, the Metallurgist will report into the Maintenance Planner. As a Metallurgist, you will supervise heat treatments, monitor the heat treat process and maintenance in addition to overseeing the upkeep of the heat treat equipment.
What you will do:
Supervise all heat treatments of steel production
Release of Heats at least 3 times Daily
Monitor all steel grades through heat treatment processes
Supervise the maintenance and calibration of the spectrometer and the slag analyzer
Saw cut wheel designs once a week to measure closure and Brinell patterns then send sample to outside lab for tensile and compression testing
Conduct Daily and Weekly sand analysis
Ensure that all castings comply with the Association of American Railroads and Amsted requirements and procedures
Supervise mechanical and chemical testing
Provide failure analysis
Provide support for OPC and MES plant wide initiatives
Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy Engineering or Materials Science
A minimum of 1 year of foundry experience
