The skilled Railroaders at the System Engineering Facility are industry leaders in transforming new and partly worn rail into value-added manufactured rail track products for distribution across CN’s North American network. Products manufactured include: continuous welded rail, panelized turnouts and crossing panels, track panels, pre-plated ties, insulated glued joints, and sawn and drilled rail pieces.
The Program Supervisor manages the day-to-day operation of one or more of the production work centres within the System Engineering Facility. The Program Supervisor develops and leads a team of unionized Railroaders to ensure safe, quality, and efficient production and shipment of track products for Engineering’s Capital and Maintenance programs. The Program Supervisor travels up to 100% of the time- usually with a 10 day on/4 day off schedule.
Critical performance areas include the following:
Effective, impactful, and engaging leadership of a unionized staff producing track components.
Coordinate and monitor products through the complete production cycle (planning, scheduling, staffing, producing, managing inventory, loading and shipping, documenting).
Build and maintain a production schedule and manage customer expectations.
Ensure the production process is cost effective and shipments are made on time.
Coordinate, establish, and implement, standard operating procedures for safe, quality, production.
Ensure key performance indicators of safety, quality, and efficiency are met or exceeded.
Improve team and individual Railroader performance through mentoring, training, coaching, auditing, and providing feedback.
Lead continuous improvement culture.
Communicate with customers regarding detailed product requirements, schedule, and shipping requirements.
Required to work either day shift or afternoon shift.
Work environment is a mix of office (30-40%) and outdoors (60—70%), in all types of weather and environmental conditions.
Expected travel 100% of the time in the region hired-usually with a 10 day on/4 day off schedule
Occasional travel requirements for field inspections, which may include overnight stays away from home.
Will be required to respond to emergency situations.

Minimum 2 years experience supervising, planning, coordinating, scheduling, and auditing production operations in a unionized environment.
Strong interpersonal and team leadership skills.
Problem solving, trouble shooting, and decision-making skills.
Demonstrated capacity to manage multiple priorities within demanding time constraints.
Working knowledge in the interpretation and application of CN Engineering Track Standards, Track Standard Drawings, and Recommended Methods.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Systems (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
Desire and capable of learning business critical systems including: SAP Applications (Production Planning; Payroll; Time Reporting); SRS; SRM; eBusiness Applications; Lotus Notes Applications (PAP, PMRC).
Excellent communication skills.
Valid CROR Rules Card.
Valid Class 5 Drivers Licence.
First Aid and CPR qualified.
