As a team member of the Department of Clinical Engineering on the Home Hemodialysis support team the Service Worker II is responsible for assisting biomedical technologists with service of limited complexity, readying supplies, spares, medical devices, instruments and specialty equipment for immediate use and reuse by the Clinical Engineering staff and Home Dialysis Patients. You will support the team with the transport of medical devices, equipment, and supplies throughout the hospital, region, or assigned area as well as be responsible for care and cleaning critical healthcare equipment. You will be relied on to replenish supplies, parts inventory, and equipment within the Clinical Engineering Renal support departments across the Edmonton Zone and Assists biomeds and managers in maintaining required preventative and demand maintenance objectives. Responsibilities also include personal prioritization, scheduling, managing of assigned workload, and other related duties as required to assist operations.
As a Service Worker II, you will be responsible for readying supplies, and disinfecting instruments and specialty equipment for immediate use/reuse by unit staff. You will transport patients (clients, residents) and equipment to and from different units when needed and distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout units. You may also transports lab specimens, blood and blood products, clean patient care equipment and transport patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required. In addition to the duties of a Service Worker II, you will ensure that exam rooms and multipurpose rooms are accurately stocked and that specialty equipment required by the medical and nursing staff is available.

Additional Required Qualifications:
Must demonstrate the strength and coordination to safely lift and move equipment that will require a two man team effort in patient's homes. Minimum of two years of experience as a Service Worker or equivalent is required. Good customer service and communication skills are required. Good Computer and Typing skills with a general understanding of Microsoft Windows applications including MSOffice Word and Excel is required. A large degree of individual self-regulation, motivation and competency is required.
Understanding of medical terminology. Understanding of a variety of clinical areas. Knowledge of inventory management systems. Demonstrated basic mechanical and electrical aptitude. Previous interaction or involvement with Clinical Engineering operations.
