Job Description


In collaboration with nursing, other hospital staff and various community services provides clerical support to maintain a progressive and personalized healthcare environment.


Accurately and completely transcribes, deciphers and processes physician orders onto patient medical records.
Operates and maintains different types of office and hospital equipment in a stressful, noisy, crowded, open concept setting.
Establishes and maintains manual, automated and statistical records and filing systems.


Grade 12 or equivalent.
Working knowledge of Medical Terminology.
Prior experience in an administrative/clerical role required, prefarably within a healthcare enviornment.
Keyboarding skiils (40 wpm).
Ability to work effectively under pressure, i.e. volume, crowded environment, interruptions, completing a variety of tasks with simultaneous deadlines.
Computer literacy in a Windows environment utilizing Word and Outlook.
HBOC, EPF, ESP expereince preferred.
Must demonstrate excellent verabl and written communications skills.
Must demonstrate excellent organizational skills.
Proven attendance record.
Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all.
Ability to perform the essential duties of the job.
Effectively uses empathy in interactions with others.
