Job Summary

While under the direction of the Stores Room Coordinator, the Warehouse Labourer will be responsible for maintaining the Stores Room, via efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of a range of goods. A key aspect of this position is maintaining inventory levels and ensuring consistent cleanliness and organization within the Stores Room, for which manual labour and the ability to lift up to 50lbs is required. This role requires appropriate physical ability to complete tasks such as lifting or moving heavy equipment, tools, etc., and spending long periods of time walking and standing. The Warehouse Labourer will be responsible for internal logistics of tools, bolts, parts, etc., and ensuring proper documentation is kept.

To be successful in this role, it is vital that the Warehouse Labourer demonstrates good verbal communication, interpersonal skills, and has the ability to maintain order and organization. This position falls within a fast-paced and manually physical environment, and the desire to adhere to company policy and procedures will be critical to reaching success.

Roles & Responsibilities
The Warehouse Labourer will be responsible for the following:

1. Safety – Be an active participant in the Safety Culture of the organization and encourage others to do the same.

2. Stores Room – Receive inventory from suppliers, and put items where they belong, while updating the inventory list. Ensure constant cleanliness of the Stores Room. Check bolt stock when required. Bring items (such as tools, bolts, parts, etc.) to the Shop Floor as required. Take items to Maintenance personnel when they have been returned to the Stores Room for inspection and any required maintenance. Issue toolboxes to new employees, tracking who has received which items. Conduct fit testing and record gas readings as required. Pick up small orders from suppliers as necessary. Transfer items between shops as requested. Move materials via forklift or overhead crane (in-house training provided).

3. Tool Crib – Provide back-up support to the Tool Crib and fill in as a Tool Crib Attendant for breaks and/or vacations at both Wilkinson and Pleasant Street locations.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in shipping/receiving, inventory, or logistics considered an asset.
  • Previous experience with forklifts and overhead cranes considered an asset.
  • Class 5 Driver’s License.
  • Physical ability to lift 50lbs.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends.
  • Exceptional work ethic and desire to adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational ability.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Hourly wages : Between $15.00 and $17.00
