The Dispatcher will be responsible for planning the safe, on time, and efficient movement of loads and trucks in a defined geographical area while communicating effectively will Owner Operators, Clients, Suppliers and Site personnel.

To be successful in this role, you will be expected to complete the following (not an exhaustive list of responsibilities):

  • Identify required loads in advance and organize for greatest efficiency
  • Assign and line up loads and deliveries based on load information
  • Monitor LTL runs to ensure they are on-time
  • Oversee daily activities of Drivers, identify issues, e.g.; load refusals, late deliveries, poor customer service – and escalate issues to Supervisor(s) as necessary.
  • Other duties related to Flatbed Operations as required

To be qualified for this role, you must clearly exhibit some or all of the following:

  • Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in transportation or operations
  • Flatbed experience an asset but not required
  • Post-secondary education, preferably in logistics or business administration
  • A suitable combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Must be proficient in MS Outlook, Excel & Word; web based programs, AS400 – an asset; must possess the aptitude for learning new programs
  • Strong customer service focus, relationship building skills and conflict resolution skills
  • Advanced communication skills including the ability to relay information (verbal and written) between several parties and deliver a positive customer experience
  • Exceptional judgment and decision making
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving skills, the ability to evaluate current situation, respond quickly to changing requirements, execute and escalate accordingly
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced , deadline-driven setting
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a deadline driven environment; appropriate sense of urgency
  • Ability to work independently and to collaborate with others to meet customer expectations.

Work schedule

  • Normally Monday to Friday, daytime hours; ability to be included on an on-call rotation.

This position does not normally require travel.
