Position:

Hospitality Teammate

Purpose:

This diverse position will provide the highest level of food and beverage service to members and guests. Hospitality Teammates will provide bar, table and counter service in the banquet / meeting spaces, the Fieldhouse Restaurant and in the RA Café. Teammates will strive towards the ultimate goal of ensuring each member and guest has a positive, memorable experience and looks forward to repeat visits.

Overall Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide the best possible service, wherever you are assigned.
  • Be knowledgeable of the RA, it’s facilities and services.
  • Be able to direct clients to the proper facilities or services.
  • Be knowledgeable of food and beverage offerings in all divisions.
  • Be knowledge of common food allergies.
  • Wear a clean RA uniform as assigned.
  • Have a neat and tidy appearance.
  • Complete side duties for each division as assigned.
  • Follow time keeping protocols.
  • Be punctual with regular and consistent attendance.
  • Adhere to all liquor license regulations.
  • Complete the inventory sheets when responsible for bar service.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Banquets / Meetings

  • Deliver and set-up all food & beverage, at the scheduled service times, in your assigned rooms.
  • Ensure that you have copies of all Event Orders to which you are assigned.
  • Be able to follow Events Orders and work independently on smaller events.
  • Check that your rooms are set-up as per the floor plans and that all AV is delivered.
  • Report any discrepancies to the Supervisor.
  • Provide the required linens and proper service ware for each banquet room.
  • Follow the guidelines for buffet and coffee service set-ups.
  • Tidy all guest tables and buffet tables during breaks and replenish water as needed.
  • Remain in or directly outside each room, until the start of each meeting and during all break/meal times, in order to provide immediate service.
  • Follow the Supervisor’s directions, when working with a Supervisor.
  • Understand and report any food allergies to the Supervisor or Event Coordinator and ensure that all guests receive the meal intended for them.
  • Report any requested changes to the Supervisor or Coordinator on duty. Any additions of food, beverage or AV must be initialled by the client.
  • Record all returned soft drinks & juices on the Event Order.
  • At end of your shift, give the Event Orders to the server responsible for the clean up or return Event Orders to the Hospitality Services Office at the completion of the event.
  • Return all Banquet equipment (chafing dishes, skirts, tray stands, etc) to its proper storage place.

Fieldhouse Bar & Grill

  • Meet and greet guests at the door whenever possible.
  • Provide menus, specials. Upsell whenever possible.
  • Inform guests or promotions and contests. Provide ballots if applicable.
  • Minimize shrinkage by following the guidelines for pouring Draft beer, mixed drinks and soft drinks. Keep your section clean, including removing empty glass, and dishes from tables.
  • Be able to comfortably carry large oval trays of food and smaller round trays for beverage service.
  • Keep common areas clean and properly stocked: front of the line, service stations, coffee station, dishes area, bar area.
  • Punch in all orders in a timely fashion. Do not serve any beverages before punching them in.
  • Work cooperatively with other teammates to support total guest satisfaction; help prepare tables, help walk food and drinks. Daily reconciliation of cash report/float

Café RA

  • Provide front-line customer service and sales of all food items and beverages, including the operation of all relevant equipment in the Café.
  • Be able to prepare, warm, and present menu items according to the RA recipes.
  • Complete shift task lists or duties as assigned by the Manager. Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the Café, workstations and adjoining space.
  • Enter all transactions in the POS system and ensure all cash and inventory is properly accounted for.
  • Inform guests or promotions and contests. Provide ballots if applicable.
  • Daily reconciliation of the cash register

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum one year’s experience in foodservice industry.
  • Be Smart Serve knowledgeable and carry Smart Serve certification while on duty. Must obtain certification upon hiring.
  • Safe Food Handling knowledgeable.
  • Follow Health and Safety guidelines.
  • Availability for shift work throughout the week, including weekends.
  • A complete understanding of written and oral English. Bilingualism (especially French) is an asset.
  • Competency working in a team environment and comfortable working independently.
  • Sales and service focused. Friendly and happy personality.
  • Be able to work together in a team environment and carry out duties independently when needed.
  • The ability to manage multiple tables and large groups.
  • Ability to comfortably balance and carry both large oval trays of food and smaller round trays for beverage service.
  • Ability to lift and carry 45lbs (average case of Beer)
  • Ability to stand for a minimum of 4 hours
  • Stamina and a Healthy Lifestyle.

Education:

  • Minimum High School Diploma

Skills required:

  • Ability to use technology to process orders and payments; including POS systems, pinpads and debit machines.
  • Basic computer knowledge and ability to communicate via email.
  • The ability to stay calm and work well under pressure.
