Reporting to the Manager Data Centre, the Data Centre Technician monitors and maintains the daily operations and maintenance of the Data Centre facilities, including the physical Data Centre infrastructure, systems run books, systems workflow, and Data Centre infrastructure as well as supports access control to provide stability and minimize disruptions to the organization.
Please note this role is identified internally as Data Centre Specialist.
This role requires working on a 12-hour rotating schedule, including nights, holidays and weekends as well as occasional overtime as required.

Full-time Contract role – 2 year Term
What you will be doing:
Executes the day to day operational delivery of the Data Centre activities with respect to systems run books, data backup, data restoration, storage configuration, SAN support and maintenance, file server configuration support and maintenance, database administration & support, management and maintenance of the Data Centre security infrastructure to ensure business continuity
Delivers activities pertaining to the full Data Centre operations lifecycle including overall planning, monitoring, evaluation, deployment and operations within the Data Centre to ensure consistent practices are being executed
Supports systems workflow interactions and communication interfaces, along with ensuring process documentation and process adherence for the Data Centre, including meeting or exceeding measurable targets based on the pre-defined service level agreements (SLAs)
Supports the development of a formalized business continuity and disaster recovery strategy/planning including defining the mitigation process, technology and people design
Supports the ongoing testing of disaster recovery plans to ensure adequate recovery time as per the pre-defined SLAs to ensure timely resolution
Supports the evaluation and implementation of opportunities to leverage cloud-based technologies in Data Centre management and practices
Assists in root-cause analysis, solution research and development for new and unknown issues in order to resolve issues in order to continue to protect against data loss
What we’re looking for:
Post-secondary degree, preferably in Information Systems, Business Administration and/or Project Management discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Experience in a datacenter environment is an asset
