The position of System Administrator, North America, has recently become available.

Resourcefulness is a necessary skill in this role. The incumbent should be able to diagnose and resolve problems quickly. The incumbent should also have the patience to communicate with a variety of interdisciplinary teams and users.

The incumbent will assist with Tier 2 level support to end users by asking questions and/or by conducting problem diagnosis and guiding users through step-by-step solution in a user-friendly, professional manner. The incumbent is also responsible for the setup, configuration and support of PCs, laptops and peripherals. This includes but is not limited to: PC/Laptop software support, remote access VPN support and basic LAN infrastructure support. Maintaining and tracking inventory asset logs is part of this position.

The incumbent will always work to meet internal and external customer expectations by fully applying yourself to the task involved, preventing errors, and developing and implementing personal quality improvement projects. The goal in this position will be to ensure that our technology infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES ARE AS FOLLOWS:

  • Installing and configuring software, hardware and networks
  • Monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues
  • Ensuring security and efficiency of IT infrastructure
  • Configure and set up System Management tools
  • Set-up, configure, and support Servers, PCs, laptops, and peripherals
  • Troubleshoot issues and outages
  • Ensure security through appropriate controls
  • Write technical documentation, manuals, and IT policies
  • Other related responsibilities/duties as assigned

SKILLS/SPECIFICATIONS:

Proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administratoror similar role

  • Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management
  • Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery
  • Ability to create scripts in Python, Perl or other language
  • Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms
  • Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
  • Excellent communication skills
  • BSc/Ba in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline; professional certification (e.g. Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA)) is a plus

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Systems preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of related work experience in corporate environment.
