Reporting to the General Superintendent, the Rotating Equipment Supervisor is responsible to collaborate with their Foreman and General Foremen to provide the direct supervision necessary to ensure that targets and deliverables are met by their team.

This position is based 90 kms west of Edmonton on a client site.

Responsibilities

Leadership

Demonstrate the Stuart Olson Promise and contribute to it becoming embedded across the organization.

Conduct performance plans and assessments with direct reports.

Maintain high level of morale among direct reports.

Act as coach and mentor to direct reports.

Technical

Support the Superintendent and Planners in the review and input to the final execution work packages.

Ensure the work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner.

Supervise the execution of the work activities to acceptable standards of workmanship in an effective manner within budget and the time/schedule restraints defined in the schedule.

Complete regular inspections of the workplace to check work methods and housekeeping, taking whatever corrective action is necessary to ensure compliance.

Ensure that the correct tools, equipment and materials are available to optimize the efficient use of manpower.

Ensure that timesheets are completed accurately with the proper allocation of charges as per the cost codes.

Ensuring correct official work permits are issued from the Operations Department before any work is performed.

Provide the project controls group with progress status each shift for their assigned work package activities that are defined on the daily shift report.

Assist the project controls group in the proper recording of actual manhour data and ensure that all major estimate variations are documented.

Participate in the critique process by keeping an informal log of the problems that are encountered.

Report the documented problems to management to ensure continuous quality improvement.

Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in related field

3-5 years’ leadership or supervisory experience

10+ years’ Industrial turnaround experience

10+ years’ Millwright experience

Working knowledge of SAP an asset

Ability to lead and operate within an environment where change happens frequently

Commitment to recruiting, mentoring, training, and retaining a focused team; the foresight and ability to delegate accordingly

Strong leadership capability as evidenced by demonstrable success in team/collaborative work environments

Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships with multiple groups

Strong written and oral communication skills

Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities; capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment

Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them

Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
