The Health and Safety Intern will be responsible for the organization, implementation and practice of the health and safety methods used by Salit Steel. The successful candidate will revise current company documentation and create a suitable action plan for health and safety practices, due diligence and organization of information. Tasks will include data entry and collection, providing assistance in the preparation and tracking of reports, filing, assisting in accident/incident investigations, and any other health & safety duties as required. The successful candidate must have an understanding of health & safety and any applicable legislation.
-Data entry of all training documentation
-Maintain employee files
-Update the Intranet with applicable health and safety information
-Track, record, post and address concerns regarding all Workplace Inspection reports
-Perform JHSC duties and requirements including meetings, member training and concerns
-Input Accident/Incident reports, follow through as required
-Track and input Hazard Reporting Forms, follow through as required
-Create monthly Safety Talks reflecting workplace hazards to inform those at risk
-Other duties as assigned
-Strong organization skills
- Auditing and Program Implementation
The candidate must have health and safety education and experience within the field is considered an asset. Travel in Ontario will be required.
