Overseeing a land base of 94.8 million hectares, the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development leads and delivers programs which ensure the sustainable management of BC’s natural resources. Within this large, diverse and complex structure, the Compliance and Enforcement Branch [CEB] represents the law enforcement arm of the Ministry. The CEB - a provincial line of sight program - applies 50+ statutes to govern 1200+ natural resource authorizations, deploys natural resource operations teams to ensure compliance and enforcement of resource management laws, and protects the public’s interest in the management of BC’s diversity of natural resources.
As a Natural Resource Officer Investigator, you will lead and investigate complex investigations of significant legislative offences [criminal and administrative] and ensure compliance with legislation, policies and other standards. To be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
Degree, diploma or certification in a related discipline such as administrative law, investigation and enforcement, resource management, or criminology. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Experience conducting inspections to monitor compliance and demonstrated experience conducting complex investigations and taking enforcement action.
Preference may be given to experience training related to supervising staff.
Valid BC driver’s licence.
Will be required to work evening and weekends.
Must be willing to travel and be deployed around the province.
