The Primary Care Division sets the foundation for the delivery of high-quality health services by establishing patient centered health services policy for the delivery of provincial health care services. The division monitors quality assurance in the system, designs service delivery models that meet the needs of patients and works with service delivery partners on key actions and quality improvement initiatives.

The Manager, Policy Developments role is to lead and manage the development and implementation of projects and initiatives including developing and implementing provincial frameworks, policies, programs and strategies to improve the delivery of primary care health care services in the province. Managers will be assigned to work in one of five program areas:

Primary Care Integration - improve the delivery of Rural and Remote and Chronic Disease provincial health care services in the province.
Guidelines & Protocols - manages the development and implementation of guidelines and protocols that provide recommendations to B.C. practitioners (BC physicians, nurse practitioners, and medical students.
Patients as Partners - determine how best to bridge the gaps and change cultural norms to include the patient as a partner in their own care.
Primary Care Services - manages the development and implementation of projects or project components to improve the performance of provincial primary health care programs and services, including inter-professional primary care or ‘team based care’.
Primary Care Home - manages the development and implementation of projects or project components related to the primary care home.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

Degree (Masters preferred) in business/public administration or health sciences, social sciences, nursing, medicine or related field plus 4 years of progressive and recent, related experience* OR

Diploma in business/public administration or health sciences, social sciences, nursing, medicine or related field plus 5 years of progressive and recent, related experience* OR

No degree and a minimum of 6 years of progressive and recent, related experience *

  • Recent related experience must include:
Leading the management of complex, multi-year projects or project components with high public profiles, large budgets and divergent stakeholder issues, preferably in the health care sector
Progressive experience on a management team demonstrating collaboration and sensitivity to stakeholder perspectives
Experience providing policy and issues-management recommendations to senior managers and preparing briefing materials
