  • The firm has a reputation for excellence as a producer of heavy fabrications and is currently accepting resumes for the position of Assistant Production Manager at its Niagara Falls, Ontario, corporate office and heavy fabrication facility.

The incumbent will be responsible for assisting the production manager in running all production activities; including prioritising, scheduling and coordinating activities amongst various groups. This role works in conjunction with all departments to create and sustain a positive, high energy continuous improvement environment while meeting customer schedules and specifications.

The successful candidate will hold a college degree in mechanical engineering or related field. The successful candidate will have at least 5 years’ experience in a Production Management role with progressively increasing level of responsibility. The candidate will have the ability to understand manufacturing processes, material specifications, costing, and shop floor terminology. In addition to excellent written and verbal English, the candidate will be proficient in MS Office and will have previously used an ERP.

Must Haves:

  • College degree in mechanical engineering
  • Previous experience in leading a welding, fabrication, and production environment
  • Must be able to read and interpret blue prints
  • Must have knowledge and/or experience in fitup, welding, and machining
  • Developed emotional intelligence, strong leadership background, and experience in conflict management
  • Previous experience in implementing a strong health and safety focused work culture
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Outstanding organizational approach
  • Results and goal driven
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong proficiency in Solidworks is considered an asset
  • Previous experience with an ERP is considered an asset


  • Coordinate shop floor based production activities
  • Scheduling day to day production priorities
  • Involved in scheduling and coordinating incoming / outgoing logistics
  • Coordinate activities and logistics at off-site cleaning and storage facility
  • Day to day conflict resolution
  • Regular production data entry into the ERP
  • Leading capital project deployments on the shop floor
  • Active participation in promoting, developing, and deploying lean manufacturing systems
  • Ensure that all shop floor activities are carried out to the highest safety standards and in compliance with all company policies
