Elite Camps was founded in 1999 and each year we provide basketball specific programming to over 5,000 athletes a year. Hoop Dreams Overnight Basketball Camp is entering its 9th summer as an overnight camp, and we blend high-quality basketball programming with traditional overnight camp programming.

At Elite Camps we pride ourselves on providing a safe environment for kids to learn, improve, and grow through fun and challenging programming both on and off the court.

We are looking for individuals to join our overnight camp team who have a strong work ethic, enjoy working with kids, work well within a team environment, and want to be part of a high-performing team that strives for excellence on a daily basis.

The Waterfront Director will oversee all aspects of our waterfront programming, safety, and emergency response preparedness. They will manage 10-12 staff members, ensure that programming is run in a safe, fun, and responsible manner, and play an integral role in our camp's leadership team. Specific duties will include:

1. Ensuring the general safety of campers and staff at the waterfront.

2. Supervising the lifeguard team.

3. Managing any waterfront emergencies.

4. Assisting with program needs.

5. Lifeguarding daily.

6. Perform all other duties and roles assigned by the Director or Assistant Director.

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years old or older by December 31st, 2020
  • Must be willing to accept feedback
  • Have a valid Standard First Aid and CPR-C Certification (or willing to obtain), and NLS
  • Have a valid Police Check (or willing to obtain)

Candidates must also be willing to:

  • Attend weekly all staff and staff team meetings as scheduled.
  • Complete daily attendance sheets and head counts for each class.
  • Additional classes and supervision as required.
  • Preparation of alternative "Rainy Day" programs.
  • All staff are expected to abide by and enforce camp guidelines of respect. These are the rules and expectations of behaviour implemented to maintain a fun and safe camp environment.
  • All staff are responsible for the safety and security of each camper in their care. Staff are to follow prescribed program standards in order to ensure the highest level of care and instruction.
  • Attendance for all staff to the June orientation week training is mandatory. This training period is where each staff will receive essential employment information and training for a successful summer experience.
  • Participation in camp-wide special events and weekly meetings are an expectation of all staff members.

The dynamic nature of summer camp demands each staff understand that additional duties may be assigned as required.

Salary: $500/week plus room and board
