Title: Automation Technical Sales Specialist
Our Automation Specialists represents our high technology products from Rockwell Automation (Allen-Bradley). The Specialists support our Industrial Sales Representatives and their account base with in-depth technical and application knowledge. Through this expertise our Specialists assist our Sales Representatives’ efforts to maximize our automation sales and margin opportunities.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists our Industrial Sales Representatives in identifying and closing Automation sales opportunities.
Prepares annual strategic plans for sales development in assigned geographic area (BC).
Trains internal and external customers on Automation products and applications.
Upgrades skills, on a continuous basis, by attending Rockwell Automation courses as deemed necessary by the Automation District Supervisor.
Maintains relationships with key O.E.M.’s, engineering firms and end-users in assigned territories.
Works directly with Industrial Sales Representatives and Rockwell account managers to create the Automation business plan for assigned branch locations.
Conducts training for external and internal customers in order to keep them current with technology advances in the Automation product offering.
Trains our Industrial Sales Representatives to locate Automation sales opportunities.
Reports activities and progress on a weekly basis to the Automation Manager.
Ensures that our sales efforts meet sales budget requirements and fit within our cost allocation.
Provides mentoring to the Automation Technical Support personnel.
Other duties as specified by the Automation and District Managers.
Reports to: Automation Manager
Level of Supervision: Reports sales activities on a weekly basis to Automation Manager. Subject to quarterly reviews to sales budget by assigned territory.
Works with: Industrial Sales Representatives, Inside Technical Support Group, Automation Manager, Industrial Sales Manager, Branch and Regional Managers
External Relationships: Rockwell Automation area managers and account managers, assigned O.E.M.’s, systems integrators, consultants, engineers, potential automation customers of our Industrial Sales Representatives
Education: University or College degree / diploma in Engineering or a minimum of five (5) years related experience in the industry, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years previous automation product sales experience either in the field or as a technical support person
Skills Required: Understanding our automation product portfolio and the ways in which these products apply to our customers’ needs for factory automation. Strong sales and presentation skills as well as application knowledge are a must.
Skills Preferred: Strong background in Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Automation Products and Services. Knowledge of a combination of the following: PLC, HMI/SCADA, Instrumentation, Automation software or Motion control.
Location: Burnaby, BC. Some travel required (20%)
