Great News! We're seeking a Scheduling Manager to be based in our Woodbridge Ontario manufacturing facility.
As the Scheduling Manager, you'll be hands-on in managing the production planning process and master schedule to determine current and future production needs, and ensuring forecast requirements are met while balancing manufacturing and material requirements. You'll establish production schedules, recommend batch sizes, giving consideration to load, capacity, and efficient utilization of equipment. In addition you'll work closely with Supply Chain to plan needed raw materials and forecasted items, and maintain various logs, databases etc. In this role, you'll work in collaboration with all teams including Customer Service, Manufacturing, Warehouse, Shipping, Supply Chain, Engineering, and our other factories to ensure we meet or exceed our Customers' needs. This role reports to the Director of Operations, ASSA ABLOY Door Group Canada.
Manage the daily activities of the Scheduling team and develop the Production Planners through leadership, training, and succession planning efforts
Communicate daily with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Customer Service and Accounting teams to coordinate effective production planning and scheduling to meet Customer ship dates
Estimate production time for orders giving consideration to availability of machines, material and tooling, number of operations involved, manufacturing backlog, order quantity, complexity of product (i.e. assemblies), previous history, outside operations, etc.
Examine the status of each order by reviewing work-in-process, open orders, material status, over-dues, etc. and checking with Planners; go on to the Plant floor to communicate changes and check status
Audit work-in-process for potential short yields, order closing, abnormal delays, and progress, and advise Planners and Production Supervisors of problems and request corrective actions
Create and analyze a Master Schedule utilizing sales forecast, facility production capacity and production cycle constraints
Implement new processes and tools to move the Scheduling department from a manual system to utilizing technology
Maintain inventory levels (materials and WIP) while meeting customer and budget requirements
Investigate, collaborate, prioritize and implement projects pertaining to enhanced capacity and resource utilization
Monitor and maintain the collection of forecasting information and facilitate the analysis of demand anomalies and capacity constraints
Analyze stock levels and sales forecasts to ensure adequate inventory/reorder points to meet production needs and delivery goals
Monitor actual output versus the Master Schedule; Identify gaps and drive solutions including a metric for production performance to the requested production schedule
Identify problems in supporting Customer requirements and coordinate efforts of manufacturing and support groups to prevent/or resolve issues and maintain integrity of schedule dates
Perform other responsibilities as required
Education and Experience
University degree in business, economics or accounting, or equivalent
5+ years in a manufacturing planning and scheduling environment
5+ years' of people management experience
Lean or Six Sigma experience an asset
Subject matter expert in scheduling systems, inventory management, and capacity planning practices in a manufacturing environment.
Proficient with planning systems and solid understanding of how planning parameters impact system recommendations
Demonstrate a high-level of accountability and ownership of a quality processes and plans
Detail orientated with demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, complexity and work within a fast paced, dynamic environment
Proficient in MS Word/Excel (intermediate level) and accounting systems
Proficient English communication skills
Good analytical ability and data analysis skills
Propensity for continuous improvement and finding efficiencies
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Manufacturing/industrial environment; some dust and noise
Ability to navigate through the manufacturing facility on a routine basis (155,000 sq ft)
Office and warehouse environment; some dust and noise
Must be able to travel to the US (factory visits, training)
