This is a contract opportunity for a licensed Clinical Psychologist to provide consulting services to Queen’s Student Wellness Services until May 2021, for 21 hours per week with reduced hours during the summer months (May to August). The Psychologist will be considered an independent contractor and not an employee of the university.
Queen’s is seeking a Clinical Psychologist who has experience working with patients who are young adults, to work with Queen’s Student Wellness Services (SWS) and provide support to students who attend the university. This role requires a licensed psychologist with experience administering assessments, diagnosing and treating common mental health conditions (depression, anxiety, ADHD, etc.), and must have supervised a team in the past.

Therapy and Supervision:
Under this contract, the Psychologist will participate in providing direction and supervision to counselling staff and crisis team in the absence of, or as back-up to the Director, Counselling Services. There may opportunities to supervise psychology practicum students, and doctoral level psychology interns as well. The Psychologist may also participate in Student-at-Risk meetings and Threat Assessment Team meetings in the absence of the Director, Counselling Services.
In regards to therapy, the Psychologist may be conducting brief clinical diagnostic interviews when needed, and will follow a small caseload of students requiring the skillset of a psychologist; typically complex cases. The Psychologist may also participate in treatment planning of clients that will be carried out by a counsellor under their supervision.
Under this contract, the Psychologist will conduct psychological assessments with use of diagnostic clinical interviews, and standardized measures when needed. Referrals will include students who may be experiencing any of the following: Depressive disorders, trauma disorders, gender dysphoria, personality disorders, autism spectrum disorder, anxiety disorders, and substance abuse/addiction. Assessment reports will be brief, but will include a diagnosis when warranted, as well as recommendations for accommodations based on functional limitations.
- A minimum of 5 years experience providing psychology services to youth and young adults, and a minimum of 2 years experience providing supervision as a licensed psychologist.
- Licensed Psychologist by a professional regulatory body, in good standing; and eligible for licensing in Ontario’s College of Psychologists, authorized for autonomous practice. Prior to starting, the Psychologist will provide the University with a copy of his/her current College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO) license and proof of professional liability insurance.
- The Psychologist is required to provide a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screen prior to providing any services to the Service and as may be requested in the future; any associated costs of obtaining this documentation are your responsibility.
- Must agree with the Director, Counselling Services on a weekly schedule to facilitate the booking of appointments
- Must be able to attend departmental meetings as required. This will be scheduled at a time that accommodates your weekly schedule.
