This position is in the Ministry of Citizens' Services, Information Management Branch and reports to the Director of Application Management. The work environment is complex. The ministry supports multiple disparate organizations, in conjunction with multiple service providers.

The IMB has recently decided to build shared platforms for the ministry. This position will be instrumental in building the governance, architecture and standards for providing the new services. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with experience in Enterprise/Platform applications who wants to get in at the ground level and influence the use of this technology within the Information Management Branch.

The Application Manager is responsible for managing the operational support, maintenance and development activities for the various business applications. The position combines managerial responsibilities with in-depth hands-on technical expertise. The manager is responsible for appropriate staffing, staff management, performance management and continuous services improvement. The manager provides technical expertise, standards, and guidance on industry good practice to teams of systems professionals, and to provide advice to management and senior ministry staff on strategic direction for service development.

Education & Experience

Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline and 5 years related work experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

  • Related experience must include:
Experience developing and managing relationships with senior level stakeholders.
Experience in monitoring the operation of large enterprise applications, remediating failures and performance issues, and applying disciplined change management practices.
Experience managing multiple complex portfolios.
Experience assigning, monitoring and reviewing the work of project teams and contractors.
Experience supervising staff and providing technical direction to work teams. Preference may be given to applicants with a minimum of 5 years experience.

Preference may be given to candidates with:
Experience working with cloud technologies
Experience working with Enterprise systems (example SAP, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Salesforce)
Experience working with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power BI, Power Flow)
Possess an ITIL certification
Possess an Agile Product Owner certification
