The Opportunity

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director of Corporate Projects, Policy and Liaison provides management oversight and leadership in completing corporate projects, developing and maintaining the corporate policy framework, and managing intergovernmental and community public affairs.

Specific accountabilities include:
Oversees operational excellence and integrity by recommending goals and objectives to the CAO on specialized corporate projects that impact multiple departments and portfolios across the organization.
Build multi-discipline teams into a strategic operation that provides outcome-based, effective and efficient project management to the corporation.
Builds strong relationships with internal and external senior leaders and be a trusted advisor to the CAO on strategic business requirements.
As assigned by the CAO, represent the corporation when the municipality partners with community agencies involving multiple municipal departments and portfolios. This includes partnerships with Metrolinx, hospitals and universities, business community and social agencies.
Responsible in developing corporate policies and ensure alignment of the corporate policy framework with corporate function and legislation

Candidates for the role of Director of Corporate Projects, Policy and Liaison will be university educated and have proven ability to engage and sustain effective relationships with Council, staff, public, in addition to, internal and external stakeholders. Preferred candidates have comprehensive knowledge of the municipal operational processes, project planning, policy frameworks, and public affairs.

Further, candidates have a proven record of accomplishment as a strategic leader and facilitator of change, with a customer service focus in public, private or not for profit sectors. Candidates will have strong business acumen, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and passion for public service. Experience in the private sector is considered value added.
