The Shift Lead is responsible for overlooking all processing and packaging department activities on a daily basis. This position assists the production, quality, and warehousing of product in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives. This position will report to the Afternoon Shift Supervisor.

** This role will be on a permanent afternoon shift (3PM-11PM) **

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that the quality of all finished products meets TGODs and Health Canada’s requirements and that all food safety, GMP and housekeeping standards are maintained at all times. Participates in the investigation of customer complaints and identifies corrective action
  • Supports the shift supervisor processing and packaging team in continuous improvement processes
  • Ability to identify problems on the processing and packaging floor, with the ability to make quick decisions to resolve them to support the plant goals
  • Provides training to employees on safety, quality, operations and other areas as required
  • Operate machinery and weigh/package products according to SOPs, ensuring accurate weights and record keeping
  • Examine and inspect containers, materials, and products in order to ensure that packing specifications are met
  • Maintain an on-hand inventory of supplies and ensure it is sufficient to meet the demand
  • Clean and sanitize packaging all work areas, rooms and equipment
  • Participate in Inventory Counts, as needed
  • Understand and operate label software and printers
  • Ensure that all employees receive proper training for the task at hand and the tasks are being completed according to the SOP’s.
  • Ensure safe work conditions and practices within the greenhouse by enforcing company Safety, Health and Environmental policies
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for Good Production Practices (GPP) and GMP


  • 3 years of operational experience, ideally within a pharmaceutical or manufacturing packaging/processing environment
  • Knowledge with GPP and GMP is preferred
  • Interpersonal skills are required for daily interactions with shop floor personnel
  • Manual functions require good hand / eye co-ordination
  • Position requires standing, lifting and walking throughout the day
  • SAP experience is an asset

Working Conditions:
