Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant is responsible for managing the day to day accounting of the Manufacturing facilities. This role is accountable to lead the accounting team in providing financial reporting and analytic capability to meet the business and financial governance needs at the highest of standards.

The incumbent will be responsible for the review and analysis of inventory variance accounts and inventory adjustments. Additionally the incumbent will compose product-costing, facilitate month end close and additional projects, as assigned.

  • Review, report and investigate costing variances from production documents and purchased receipts on a weekly basis
  • Prepare/Approve product costing for existing customers and new formulas
  • Coordinate costing requests to costing department on weekly basis (attend weekly CPT meetings)
  • Assist/Approve in preparing monthly journal entries for various accounts
  • Assist in the process of updating new standards and budget preparation for the new year
  • Prepare (Update) financial reporting packages in excel format
  • Prepare monthly PPV report, using excel format
  • Preparation/ review of monthly account analysis, including reconciliations, gathering backup documentation and referencing
  • Working in compliance with the company’s Health & Safety Policies/SOP’s including but not limited to the Safety Responsibilities Procedure
  • Will comply with Good Manufacturing Practices in all GMP sensitive areas of Jamieson Laboratories Ltd. facilities
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Successful completion of College or University diploma/degree in accounting or business; or experience working for a mid – to large size Company
  • Experience working in Pharmaceuticals or Manufacturing would be considered an asset
  • Experience with ERP software and demonstrated working understanding and knowledge of systems and databases as related to the role; experience in system changes/migration and upgrade is highly valued
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, financial reporting, and financial analysis including GAAP, accounting systems, budgets, internal controls, business planning, and asset management
  • Demonstrate leadership and developmental skills, along with the proven ability to mentor and train others
  • Intermediate/ Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, V- Lookups, advanced formulas)
  • Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently with good time management skills, manage multiple priorities at once
