Are you an amazing designer who loves to code?

Knowledge Network, BC’s Public Broadcaster, is looking for an Interactive Designer to grow and enhance our streaming services on web, mobile and TV platforms. We’re looking for someone committed to ensuring our audience has the best media experience possible.

Our streaming services have an expansive, engaged, and dedicated audience. The work of our team is accessed by thousands of British Columbians and Canadians daily seeking information and entertainment from a public broadcaster they trust.

The Interactive Designer will collaborate with other developers, programmers, designers, and internal stakeholders to deliver an engaging user experience across multiple platforms. This position is responsible for the entire design process, including front end development of our streaming platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver innovative designs
  • Develop wireframes and other UI/UX documents used in planning Web/App designs
  • Implement designs or changes to our websites using HTML, LESS, and our content management framework
  • Assist with email campaigns and templates
  • Make suggestions or improvements to our platforms based on user data
  • Collaborate with other team members and cross departmentally

Required Skills

  • Graduate of Web/Digital Design program with a minimum of 3 years experience in responsive design
  • Experience designing, creating and maintaining assets (wireframes, prototypes, graphics), using Adobe Creative Cloud and InVision
  • Ability to design within our brand style guide with attention to detail
  • Proficient experience with HTML and CSS
  • Experience with CSS preprocessors (ideally LESS)
  • Ability to learn new technologies and business functions
  • Ability to work independently, as well as communicate within a team environment

Preferred Skills

  • Experience developing for a CMS or templating framework (ideally Drupal)
  • Experience with frameworks such as Bootstrap
  • Experience with Git or similar version control system(s)
  • Functional understanding of JavaScript (advanced understanding or knowledge of additional libraries is a big plus)
