Water Quality Technician
Reporting directly to the Treatment Manager, the primary role is to process and analyse water samples during freshwater and hydrogen peroxide treatments on our well boats.
Testing of freshwater samples from a reverse osmosis system for Carbon Dioxide (CO2), Ammonia (Un-Ionized x TAN / 100 = ppm), Alkalinity (HCO3 & CO3 ppm), pH (Phenol Red), Hardness (Ca & Mg ppm).
Testing of water samples during hydrogen peroxide treatments.
Analysis, recording and reporting of data.
Plankton sampling during well boat transfers and treatments.
Support to the team during other projects, data management and reporting.
Inventory management of necessary compounds and sampling equipment.
Bachelor of Science or Aquaculture post secondary preferred.
Previous knowledge of water quality analysis or laboratory experience an asset.
Demonstrated skills and experience in providing leadership to a team of staff and supporting all aspects of personnel management.
Operate effectively with a ‘lead from the front’ attitude.
Good critical thinking abilities, decision-making abilities and sound judgment.
Strong interpersonal skills (i.e. approachable, empathetic) including the ability to develop effective relationships and successfully resolve conflict situations.
Basic computer skills (e.g. Aqua Farmer, word processing & spreadsheets). Highly motivated, positive outlook and positive attitude towards work.
The ability to work safely and effectively in challenging environmental conditions
