The Equipment Maintenance Manager will operationalize the components of the maintenance program, in collaboration with two supervisors and cross-functional teams, with VIA’s future needs in mind once the new fleet has been acquired. In this position, you and your multi-site team on the Québec City – Windsor corridor will:

  • Implement and operationalize the new fleet’s maintenance program, while updating maintenance of older equipment to align with new procedures in multiple maintenance centers and sites
  • Be an agent of change in the transformation and support, train and coach maintenance employees during the transition to the new procedures, including new technology
  • Act as a liaison between the civil engineering and reliability team and maintenance employees in shops and sites along the Corridor
What you can expect in this position:
  • Modernize and align the rolling stock maintenance program for all equipment, both existing and new
  • Assess proposed solutions to ensure easy execution once the project is completed
  • Demonstrate leadership, initiative and creativity while meeting “technical” and “people” objectives
  • Minimize resistance to change through good planning and impact analysis
  • Meet high Health and Safety standards in operationalizing all aspects of the program
Requirements :
This position is right for you if you have:
  • A vocational diploma, College diploma or equivalent experience in heavy machinery maintenance
  • 7 years of experience in heavy machinery maintenance, including a minimum of 2 years supervising teams (multi-site management an asset)
  • Experience in changing procedures in a unionized industrial setting (railway an asset)
  • Availability to work outside regular hours, if required, to identify needs and oversee implementation
  • Availability to travel to meet with teams located in Québec City, Ottawa, Toronto and London (less than 20% of the time)
  • Bilingualism in English and French (spoken and written)
