Marshall & Lamperson has been providing legal services in Qualicum Beach and the surrounding areas for over 30 years. We are a full-service law firm that practices in the areas of corporate/commercial, development, conveyancing, litigation, family, wills and estates. The Firm has two offices, in Qualicum Beach & Port Alberni.

We are currently expanding and are looking for qualified staff to join our team. We are seeking to fill the following positions:

Bookkeeper/Billing Clerk

Receptionist/Administrative Assistant

Litigation Legal Assistant (experience in personal injury would be an asset).

The Positions:

Bookkeeper/Billing Clerk

Duties would include time entry, preparing accounts, sending accounts to clients, managing a bring forward system to ensure that the accounts were paid in a timely manner and preparing follow-up correspondence when required, processing payments and including payments received directly from clients and/or funds held in trust as retainers. Other duties may include accounts payable and the processing of GST and PST and other tasks as required by our accounting department.

Receptionist/Administrative Assistant

Duties will include answering telephones, booking appointments, greeting clients, accepting retainer funds provided by clients, preparing accounts, processing receivables, opening files, post office and bank runs and other general administration support as required by our team of lawyers and support staff.

There may be opportunities for advancement or placement in our other areas of practice for qualified candidates.

Litigation Legal Assistant

Duties would include maintaining litigation files both in electronic and hard copy form, drafting and sending correspondence, managing a bring forward system for all key dates, managing lawyers' calendars, communicating with clients, performing conflict searches, drafting court documents, submitting documents to the Court either by way of Court Runner or BCOnline, managing personal injury files including requests for medical records and tracking special costs and any other tasks related to supporting litigation lawyers.

The Candidates

The ideal candidates would be familiar with PC Law (or similar accounting software) and other computer programs such as MS Office Suite including Word, Excel and Outlook, has the ability to multi task in a fast-paced environment and would value being part of a cooperative team of staff and lawyers.
