The Office to Advance Women Apprentices (OAWA) Prince Edward Island (a project under the direction of Atlantic Canada Regional Council, ACRC) will work with tradeswomen in Prince Edward Island to assist them to advance through their apprenticeship in the skilled construction trades.

The Office to Advance Women Apprentices - Prince Edward Island has an opening for a Project Coordinator position at its office on 159 John Yeo Drive, Charlottetown, PEI. This is a nine-month position with the possibility of extension.

The individual in this position will provide assistance and support to women apprentices throughout the job search process and will possess the ability to build strong relationships and partnerships with trades unions, employers, government, trades colleges and other community partners.

The position will also entail apprentice tracking and reporting, career counselling/development, employment maintenance, resume development, data entry management, supporting research activities and providing progress reports to the Project Manager.


The applicant should have education in the areas of social sciences, career/job counselling, women’s studies, or other related fields – coupled with:

  • Extensive experience in partnering and developing relationships with various industry stakeholders;
  • Experience in performing employment maintenance support and mediating conflict in the workplace;
  • Extensive experience in career counselling, resume development, interview and job preparation;
  • Knowledge of client confidentiality and privacy laws;
  • Experience in hosting and facilitating stakeholder information sessions, networking events, round table discussions, conferences, advisory group meetings, etc.;
  • An understanding of labour market trends as it pertains to construction industry;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the provincial and national apprenticeship system and the Canadian Red Seal Program;
  • Strong Computer Skills, g suite and database management;
  • Strong organizational, facilitation, time management and communication skills and be able to work diplomatically and independently in a challenging environment;
  • A valid driver’s license.
