Elk Lake Veterinary Hospital is seeking a friendly, detail orientated and experienced Technical Assistant for our specialty surgery department. Working with our board-certified surgeon and skilled Registered Veterinary Technicians, you will play a vital role in ensuring the team delivers cutting edge and comprehensive care to patients.

Key duties;

  • Support the Surgery Department in surgeries, patient recovery, discharge, consultations and all forms of client care
  • Liaise between hospital staff, clients and referring Veterinarians
  • Ensure medical records are correct, up to date and disseminated appropriately
  • Book consultations, surgeries and post-operative appointments
  • Clean, sterilize and maintain equipment, instruments, tools and facility

Key Attributes;

  • Minimum 2-year experience as a Veterinary Assistant
  • Driven to deliver high standard customer experiences
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication
  • Work with a sense of urgency and deliver consistent results
  • Adept time management skill with the ability to plan, organize and multitask
  • Display meticulous attention to cleanliness and sterility
  • Thorough and detail orientated
  • Able to take direction and also work independently to complete tasks
  • Positive, bright bubbly and charismatic
  • Above standard knowledge of computer software and technology
  • Above average knowledge of anesthesia, monitoring, sterility

We highly regard the following assets:

  • Experience in referral practice, emergency or an ICU setting
  • Experience and/or strong interest in rehabilitation therapy
