Job Title: Medical Records Coordinator (1 year MAT LEAVE CONTRACT)

Reporting to: Manager, Patient Experience & Clinic Operations

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Medical Records Coordinator plays a vital role in making certain that patient data is being compiled, updated, and organized accurately to compliance with regulations. It is vital that all medical information is accessible to the clinical team while preserving each patient’s privacy.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Generate and prepare medical records
  • Organize and evaluate medical records for completeness and accuracy
  • Pull and route records to appropriate personnel or department
  • Prepare reports and forms as directed
  • Maintain and search computerized medical records (EMR, EPIC)
  • Manage all incoming and outgoing request for medical records
  • Receive, screen and direct telephone calls from patients and healthcare providers
  • Scanning of all medical information into EMR system (management of system)
  • Receive incoming correspondence and review/forward to appropriate department or staff
  • MyCHART requests and navigation
  • Request for Medical Information – ie: Attending Physician Statements
  • Perform a variety of administrative duties, including but not limited to: answering phone calls, faxing, review of confidential documents, e-mail correspondence, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Lisencing: not required, but an asset
  • Ability to work effectively within the role independently and with other team members
  • Ability to organize and complete work in a timely manner
  • Accuracy, prioritization and attention to detail are vital

Required Length and Type of Experience

  • Minimum of two years experience in the health care industry
  • Medical Terminology
  • Associate degree or certificate program preferred
