Health Information Management
The Health Records Clerk assists in the establishment and maintenance of health records in accordance with policies and procedures. The clerk is responsible for the daily management of the patient record including filing, photocopying and scanning of patient records, chart location, chart pulls, chart assembly and chart distribution. The Clerk also provides clerical support for Release of Information (ROI) and quality assurance (QA).
Rate of Pay: $21.91 per hour - $23.70 per hour
Hours of Work: Up to 22.5 hours per week
Successful completion of a 1 Year Health Records Clerks Certificate required
Proficiency in computer and keyboarding skills, i.e., Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Electronic Patient Record, and corporate productivity tools
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of medico-legal aspects of chart completion as required by the Public Hospital’s Act
Effective organizational skills involving time management, prioritization and the ability to problem solve while ensuring attention to details
Demonstrated excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact with various stakeholders
Demonstrated knowledge of LHSC policies, i.e. patient confidentiality and privacy legislation
Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability and ability to manage change in a dynamic environment
Demonstrated ability to work well and independently with minimum supervision in a team environment
Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC’s Mission, Vision and Values
Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis.
Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step)
