A key role in the Member Hub, the Financial Specialist provides consistent and exemplary service to G&F’s member base by working collaboratively with partner departments and the branch network to provide high quality financial advice and services, while maintaining and growing the member portfolio. The Financial Specialist provides a superior member experience and builds lasting and meaningful relationships through a thorough and broad knowledge of financial products and services to help members find solutions to their financial needs.
Sales & Service
Analyzes member needs, provides individualized financial advice and recommends appropriate G&F products and services and alternatives, including cross-selling and referrals to specialists.
Builds thorough and complete money relationship with members by analyzing member needs and finding solutions.
Identifies, recommends and delivers all lending needs up to and including mortgages.
Collaborates with Personal Advisors to resolve complex member issues and provide advanced lending products and services, including debt consolidation.
Provides non-cash related account services to members and processes routine banking transactions as well as deposit and investment products and services.
Proactively participates in seasonal and ongoing marketing product campaigns.
Performs regular and proactive outbound calls for mortgage and deposit product renewals as well as marketing campaigns to increase member retention and wallet share.
Solicits new members and proactively seeks opportunities to consolidate business from other financial institutions and strengthen financial relationships with G&F.
Follows up on product renewals and conducts outbound calls to members during campaigns.
Processes deposit and investment products and services including follow up on product renewals and outbound calls for campaigns.
Reporting & Risk Management
Maintains records of financial information, produces financial reports and maintains financial systems to provide accurate, timely and relevant information for the most effective decision making.
Demonstrates due diligence and compliance with lending principles and policy.
Gathers information related to loan applications including conducting credit checks.
Resolves member concerns using sound judgement to make timely and effective decisions while considering short and long term risks and the impacts and outcomes.
Provides guidance, coaching and direction to other members of the team.
Proactively identifies and recommends process improvements for better efficiencies.
Collaborates with specialist departments by referring members for additional services.
Post-secondary business degree or diploma
3-6 years’ related experience
Financial Planning 1, plus two additional financial planning courses
CUIC 210: Consumer & Residential Mortgage Lending is preferred
Equivalent combination of the above may be appropriate
