Landon Mechanical is currently seeking a Health and Safety Representative/ Project Assistant to join our expanding team.   • Act as main Health and Safety resource for Landon Mechanical; oversee and manage Landon’s Safety Program
  • Monitor and update the online health and safety management system
  • Develop and maintain Safe Work Practices and Safe Job Procedures (SJP)
  • Maintain safety metrics and documentation with the ability to present this information to applicable parties
  • Ensure records and documentation are kept to protect Company interests
  • Identifies problem areas and training requirements for various projects
  • Assist in completing site inspections and following up with site compliance as needed.
  • Recommend improvements to the Landon safety manual and assist in implementing Best Practices annually
  • Participate in Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings and keep accurate record of minutes and send to appropriate designates
  • Implement Health and Safety orientation training and development for new site team members
  • Monitor workplaces and report and/or provide recommendations with regards to issues of non-compliance and potential risks
  • Investigate incidents/accidents providing necessary documentation and corrective actions; manage WSIB claims as required
  • Manage safety providers, trainers and suppliers as required
  • Stay current on standards and legislations; communicate pending changes and provide implementation plans
  • Assists in project mobilization to ensure all records, documentation and postings are developed and maintained
  • Provide confidential administrative support to project managers, estimators, and senior management
  • Prepare, compose and proof read correspondence and reports on a variety of matters
  • Perform additional assignments per the direction of management to assist with project administration


  • 1-3 years work experience in a similar safety/ project role or combination of related education, training and experience; experience in construction a requirement
  • Experience with COR certification and training in Working at Heights and Lift training an asset
  • Tech Savvy – the ability to work with integrated software and have Intermediate Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook knowledge
  • Highly organized with a keen attention to detail
  • Ability to assume responsibility and to interface and communicate effectively with others, have strong interpersonal skills and be self-motivated
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, an investigative approach to your work, adaptable attitude, and good negotiation skills
  • Deadline oriented with ability to prioritize and plan tasks
  • Works well independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to adapt to ever changing priorities in a calm and professional manner
