Dream is looking for a Corporate Accountant (6 Month Contract)

You have minimum of 1 year of experience where you are familiar with journal entries and have worked with financial statements. You have a strong attention to detail.

What will you do?

Below are some of the primary responsibilities you will be taking on in this role. There will be more, but we can discuss those in person.

Maintaining the accounting records for various corporate Business Units:

Prepare and post journal entries as part of the monthly and quarterly corporate accounting close process including intercompany transactions and corporate elimination entries.
Assist the Manager of Corporate Accounting to review, record, and settle related party transactions.
Prepare account reconciliations.

Assisting the team with quarter and year-end reporting:
Prepare certain sections of the financial statements note disclosures and MD&A.
Perform review checks and tie-ins of financial statements, MD&A, press release before public release.
Assist in preparing and responding to external auditor requests.
Assist in ad hoc requests from senior management.
What type of experience and skills do you have?

Knowledge of basic accounting principles and concepts, familiar with journal entries, exposure to financial statements.
Logical - Ability to apply logic and critical thinking skills.
Drive to learn - Willingness to take on progressive challenges to develop technical skills. Be curious and ask why.
Organized - Ability to track and balance assigned tasks
Strong people skills - A team player with a proven ability to build relationships at all levels of an organization.
Strong communication skills - Demonstrated in written and verbal communications.

Minimum 1 year of accounting experience (co-op/intern inclusive) in industry or an accounting firm environment.
University business degree (or equivalent).
An accounting designation or working towards an accounting designation.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
Exposure to, or experience in, real estate is an asset.
