Community Living Burlington is a social service agency that provides services to individuals who have a developmental disability in a residential setting and in a day program. We are looking for an Intervenor(s) for an individual that lives in one of our homes with four roommates. This position will be classified as non-union. An Intervenor is specially trained to act as the "eyes" and "ears" of the person living in our group home. Intervenors provide information about the environment and what is happening, assists the person who is deafblind to communicate, form accurate concepts, make appropriate decisions, and anticipate coming events, assists with life skills and most importantly, assists the individual to achieve as much independence as possible. An Intervenor would support the person to achieve their personal goals and facilitate relationships, skills and roles which promote effective participation in the community.


  • Minimum 1-year post-secondary education
  • One to three years of related work experience
  • One to three years of related work experience supporting people who have a developmental disability
  • A certified Congenital DeafBlind Specialist (CCDBS) is considered an asset or a willingness to work towards certification
  • Current CPR/First Aid
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn techniques for providing Intervenor Services to people with deaf-blindness through total communication
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Current Police Clearance with Vulnerable Sector
