Surgenor Truck Group in Ottawa needs your help to meet consumer demand for quality vehicle service and repair by you joining our team as a Heavy Truck Shop Foreperson. We are a busy Mack/Volvo and Isuzu Truck dealer who is committed to ongoing development of training paths for technical advancement.

The Shop Foreperson supervises and mentors the Apprentices and technicians to ensure that customer’s needs are met and trucks are fixed right the first time. Responsibilities include day to day activities of the shop, technician training and coaching as well as review of shop equipment operation.

What you will do:

  • Ensure Apprentices are given proper information to do the job efficiently and correctly. Train them to develop their skills.
  • Be involved in the workflow of the day
  • Perform road test with customers when needed
  • Perform quality control inspection
  • Involved with a Quality Control Process to avoid comebacks
  • Will keep to date with the most current information through factory training and service bulletins
  • Be involved with management to hire technician and apprentice
  • When necessary open and or close facilities
  • Technician training path and schedule

Required skills:

  • 10 years minimum experience as 310T licensed Technician
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Computer skills
  • Good judgment and able to make tough decision
  • Team player
