Blind Channel Resort requires a co-chef/pastry chef for the upcoming summer season. A top destination for boaters, we are located on West Thurlow Island, about 50 Km north of Campbell River, in the heart of BC’s beautiful Inside Passage. The resort is relatively remote--accessible only by boat or float plane.
Our restaurant, the Cedar Post Inn, is a German-influenced, casual fine-dining restaurant. The seating capacity is about 65, but typically we serve 30-50 people in peak season. Also part of the restaurant is a patio with a barbecue shack overlooking the marina. We are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and also sell baked goods in our store.
This position will require a person who has a passion for fine food with a special interest in the pastry arts and all baking. He or she will share a leadership role in all areas of the kitchen as required and will need to be able to manage the kitchen on days when the other lead chef is absent. The person in this position will be primarily responsible for all baked goods and desserts offered to our guests.
We are looking for a team player, with a high energy level, positive attitude, and good leadership skills. The ideal candidate will be versatile, creative, and able to work independently. He or she must have Foodsafe certification. Several years’ experience in a fine dining establishment are a requirement.
Blind Channel offers a unique experience for all our staff and often a summer here is the start of life-long friendships. Because of the remote location, this is a live-in job; accommodations are provided on site as well as meals in the kitchen for the kitchen staff.
