Job Title: Dietitian 2 - School Health Program & Eating Disorders
Work Site: Eating Disorder Child & Youth, Foundry North Shore - North Vancouver, BC
Status: Temporary Part Time (0.01 FTE)
Start Date: As soon as possible until approximately July 2021
Salary: $34.95 - $43.58 per hour


Days of work: 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month (twice a month)

Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Dietician to join the Youth Mental Health & Addictions team in North Vancouver, BC at the Foundry North Shore Eating Disorders Clinic. Apply today to join our team! In this position you will be focused on Eating Disorders in Children and Youth.

As a Dietician with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:
Work with an interdisciplinary team to coordinate the operations of the Eating Disorder Clinic.
Use a population health approach to plan, organize, coordinate and evaluate nutrition programs directed towards prevention of childhood obesity and disease prevention to school districts by providing consistent, reliable, evidence based nutrition information and consultation to children/youth/families that promote healthy eating and active living behaviours.
Act as the clinical resource within North Shore/Coast Garibaldi sites, and establish/evaluate multifaceted nutrition care programs relating to eating disorders.
Assist with the development and coordination of relevant educational material for diverse populations and programs.
Collaborate with inter-disciplinary team members, educational resources and other health care professionals/providers to achieve excellence in nutritional health services and education.


Foundry North Shore is comprised of a team of general practitioners, nurse practitioners, occupational therapists, mental health and substance use clinicians, and youth and family peer-support and navigation workers.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Dietetics or Nutrition from an accredited university.
Completion of a Dietetic Internship Certified by Dietitians of Canada.
Two years’ recent related clinical experience including a focus on client-centred counselling of eating disordered clients and training in the assessment and treatment of eating disorders and experience championing healthy eating and active living behaviours in children and youth.
Registered member of the BC College of Dietitians.
Local area travel requires use of personal vehicle. Valid BC Drivers License.
Second language preferred (e.g. Farsi).
Computer literacy specifically with Windows applications.

Knowledge & Abilities

Demonstrated client-centred counselling skills including supportive behavioural interventions applicable to eating disordered clients.
Knowledge of the nutritional needs/concerns of eating disorders for children and youth including acute cases.
Working knowledge of nutrition education principles, methods and delivery techniques.
Considerable knowledge of community resources and available services.
Working knowledge of client-centred care.
Working knowledge of facilitation and conflict resolution techniques and demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to instruct clients, families, caregivers and other health care professionals regarding eating disorders and related topics.
Demonstrated ability to prepare and maintain a variety of charts, records and reports related to work and to perform all duties with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing and in collaborating for community interaction.
Demonstrated ability to independently plan, organize and prioritize workload and adapt to a changing caseload in a complex environment.
