The Brant County Health Unit is currently accepting applications for a challenging and rewarding career opportunity as a Communications Advisor.

The Brant County Health Unit is one of 35 health units in Ontario. The Brant County Health Unit serves a population of 136,035 in an area of 1,093kmĀ². We provide health promotion, protection and disease prevention programs and services designed to help all members of the community achieve and maintain optimal health. Reporting to the Manager of Communications, the Communications Advisor carries out communication functions that align with corporate goals and objectives; plans and implements strategies to stakeholder engagement, and builds relationships between media partners and the organization. As part of a collaborative team, the Communications Advisor will plan, execute, and measure social media activities; provide strategic communication support designed to highlight BCHU services and programs to designated system partners; and perform activities that support effective internal communication. These essential tasks require outstanding organizational skills and a keen attention-to-detail.

Qualified applicants will have successfully completed post-secondary education in communications, public relations or journalism. A minimum of one year work experience in a communications environment including demonstrated media relations, social media and communications consultation is required. Candidates will be self-started, demonstrating initiative and ability to work independently and take appropriate action based on analytical and problem solving skills. The successful candidate will have exceptional writing skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite and the strategic and creative use of social media platforms.

Terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with ONA Allied Collective Agreement. Salary range: $29.79 - $35.94 per hour (70 hours in a two-week period).
