There is a position available as Head Custodian - Replacement Step #1 at Ecole Central Elementary. Applications will be accepted by the Executive Assistant Human Resources up to 12:00 noon, August 27, 2019. Position is available immediately until January 3, 2020 or the return of the incumbent.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor and Principal, this position is responsible for custodial and minor building maintenance work in the cleaning of the school district facilities. Oversees the work of one or more custodians.

Cleans and disinfects building interior, fixtures and windows. This includes garbage removal, sweeping, vacuuming and wet mopping floors. Also performs some related cleaning duties to the exterior of the building and landings
Responsible for building security
Performs minor maintenance on doors, windows, lamps, school furniture and other fixtures
Under general direction of the Principal/Supervisor, organizes the regular work day and seasonal clean ups. Seasonal clean ups include stripping, scrubbing and waxing floors and washing walls, desks, and furniture.
Monitors and orders custodial and maintenance supplies as needed
Ensures tools and equipment are in good working order
Follows proper safety rules and standards by ensuring the work site is safe and secure, that equipment is operated according to set standards and the proper and safe handling of hazardous materials (W.H.M.I.S.). Informs the Principal/Supervisor of vandalism
Oversees the orientation and work of one or more custodian as assigned
Performs other job related duties as directed by the Principal/Supervisor and Head Custodian

Hours of Work: Eight (8.0) hours per day, five (5) days per week.
Duties to Commence: As soon as possible after close until January 3, 2020 or the return of the incumbent
Work Year Base: Eleven (11) months per year.
Commencing Salary: $22.76/hr

Qualifications and Attributes

Grade 10 or equivalency
Minimum one year experience in commercial cleaning or school cleaning
Skill and ability to operate large, self-propelled auto scrubber and window cleaning equipment
Reading comprehension of written instructions and safety bulletins
Ability to work with the public
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to be an integral part of a team
Reading comprehension of written instructions and safety bulletins
Must be well organized
Successful applicant may be required to complete a customized First Aid Course
